For the Rest of the Decade

Today again will pass us by

You only behold the sky

To catch a break, to touch that special flower

To ignore that hiding hand of hour

Though destiny's whisper is so unclear

There is nothing here to fear

Another year, another day

Another remnant of your soul, the price you pay

For living, for dying, this cycle so dull

For what purpose, a spirit so full?

We may lie to ourselves to get through daylight's task

To maintain a peace we might choose and wear a beautiful mask

One day you will not have to indulge in lies

Is when together to freedom our soul flies

Please don't let go of my hand

And I promise to help you understand
